I have an 12in Aregentine Tegu. He still have alittle green on him. I have heard that other people's tegu likes to swim and enjoy soaking in the water. Everytime I try to give my tegu a bath, he always at the wall of the tub trying to get out. I put him in warm water. Does your Tegu likes to swim? Why does my tegus tail always viabrate? Anyone know?

My Argentine is very content in water - My Black hates it and will frantically try to climb or jump out - My Gold and my Ameiva are kind of split on it - Sometimes they will sit their content for 15 minutes, however sometimes they want out from the second I put them in...

all my tegus tolerate soaking in a shallow tub. I've tried putting almost all of them in the pool to see if they want to actually swim...my conclusion is that tegus do not like swimming. icon_biggrin.gif I read that flooding is one of the most common natural disasters in argentina...perhaps that leads to the tegus natural aversion to deep water!

my tegu enjoys a good soaking in the tub, and enjoys it when one end is deep enough for a good full out swiming, maybe hes just wierd though.

Most of my guys love the water. I often find them soaking in their tubs.

Fred goes swimming in our pool in the summertime. He floats around on a pool raft and when he is ready he dives in and swimms around. He will sometimes just go to the bottom and stay there for a while. When he is done he will swim over to the steps and climb out, kay by the side of the pool and sun bathe.
