Does anyone else keep dubia?
What can you tell me about them?
although they do not breed like lobsters, are they still easy to breed?
Do I need to keep them at a higher than room tempature?

And thanks Rick for suggestion James (Blaberus.com) he's one of the most professional, and nicest people to order from, and you can tell that he actually cares, unlike some other roach breeders.

I bought some from James too and so far they are not breeding. They eat all the time and I have had no "casualties" so.........

I keep them in the house and also have a small under tank heater under them. Maybe I should provide candles and champagne, you know, set the mood and all icon_confused.gif

The warmer they are the faster they will breed, 85-95f is optimal. I find that they breed much faster than all the blaberus sp. but slower than B.lateralis or lobsters

I started a dubia colony not so long ago and they started breeding straight away. First off you need adults. If you have nymphs, then you need to wait for them to mature first, but you worked that one out already....

I put mine in a plastic box with clip on lid (with a few air holes), with vertical egg crate. Is prob. about 24" x 15" x 15", maybe a bit smaller. I have an UTH under half of the tank. That way the roaches can move away/towards the heat by moving up/down or left/right. I have found with roaches that although they will eat anything, you do need to make sure they are getting protein. If you see any chewed wings then you need to up this straight away. Also, make sure they are getting soft fruit for moisture. My dubia don't seem to eat dry foods like lobster roaches or some others will.

Hope this helps,
Mark.
