hello everyone!!
I'm pretty new posting, only been a member for a few months. was very interested in getting a tegu. thanks to my girlfriend. after a few months thinking about it. i was opposed to getting an Argentine b&w due to the 8x3 cage i needed room for when they get full grown. and having a second bed room already full with various reptiles, with about 60 mouths to feed, consisting of 17 cages 6 each of 4 x2 cages and need 3 more to build for my bearded dragons, 8 baby bins with 8 more needed by the summer , a breeding pair of chondros, in their cages with the female just ovulating , and expecting eggs next month hopefully!! 4 pixie frogs, 2 box turtles, 2 juvenile basin tree boas, and 1 juvenile chondro. 2 tarantulas and breeding superworms, and breeding 2 species of roaches, i was convinced that i really had my table full. oh yea 6 cats too. so , i've been been just sitting back checking the classifieds here checking posts and really enjoying just being a spectator here. but still had was fascinated with the argentines. but i knew i really shouldn't get one. so it was in my head no. i told my girlfriend whom i live with and convinced her it wasn't a good idea. so we get out of work Saturday night and needed to go to petco to get some catfood and litter. she usually waits in the car, but she decided to come in with me. and as a reptile enthusiast i always check out what they got, i've never considered buying any reptile from any petco or petshop like that. usually i go to breeders and shows (i am also a vendor ) and in the reptile section were two cages labeled argentine tegu 189.99. i was like WHOLLY SH.. I was looking through the cages and it and they looked empty. i asked my girlfriend to ask if the guy that worked there if it was true, they guy comes over and says yes they are in there. he unlocks the cages and pulls the logs out of one and nothing, he goes to the second cage and pulls the log out and there is one half buried , i have never seen one that small and at a FREAKING PETCO!!! i was amazed, how cool he /she was looking. the guy says we have 2 one is a really nice and the other is not so nice. he actually thought the one we were looking at was the nice one , until another guy that worked there told him that it was the bad one. the other guy goes into the other cage digs around and found the hiding one buried in the substrate. he took him out and it was just chilling.no minding the attention, and looked pretty alert from just being woken up. then those little words i heard.... do you want to hold him? of course, i said yes and immediately fell in love. after a half hour talking about the argentines how great a pet they make , how intelligent, etc ect. i guess i impressed them in all the knowledge, i had thanks to this website and because i never owned one or even held one before. then the manager comes over to join in on the conversation and my girfriend asked if they can do anything about the price. he comes back with a total with tax included of 134 and change. amazed how much was taken off looked at my girlfriend and she then whipped out the money and i said sold. and here /she is, trying to come up with a name. my girlfriend wants b.d. wong , I'm not sure, we want to wait until we know if its a boy or girl. it is soo cute and friendly loves to be pet behind the head and fell asleep in my hand. I'm really excited and i also apologize for making you read such a long post. i just needed to vent and share with all you reptile lovers out there. thanks
