oh good god no...please let these not be a problem...
i noticed today my tegus substrate is crawling with tiny white bugs that jump, i think they are springtails. I use cypress mulch that I got from a reputable reptile dealer so I thought it would be clean. They seem to just stay in moist areas of the substrate I have not seen them on the tegu.
Are they harmful? Do I have to get rid of them? If they are bad then I'm just going to stop using mulch. I would have to spend an enormous amount of money to buy enough of the "clean" pet store brands, and sterlizing mulch in my oven is just not an option.

Those little white mites are either soil or wood mites That come along with your substrate every once in a while - I don't believe that type is going to do any harm to your Tegu... _________________ 1.0.0 Ball Python "Albino"
