Well, here's Grimlock!

"Ok I see turkey, I see tomato...where's the bacon!?!"

"Ehh well it does smell good"

"Mmm not bad, not bad..."

"You're going to spend these on me RIGHT?"

oh can anyone tell me how old he is based on his size compared to the coins? I think my guess of 6 months was wrong he may be younger.

Great pictures! icon_smile.gif Keep 'em coming.

As far as age, this is one little thing that will help to give you a ballpark age on young tegus. To my knowledge no one has bred tegus in captivity off of the normal seasons. Since Argentine tegus generally hatch in July/August, that would give you an idea how old your tegu is. Keep in mind a hatchling from last year (early July) who hibernated fully may be only 12" while a July baby who did not hibernate at all could be 3 feet!

So if you said your tegu was hatched around July 30th, you wouldn't be more then a month off either way. icon_smile.gif So my guess would be around 8 months, give or take a month.

Hope that helps.

Rick

thanks guys icon_biggrin.gif
More to come as soon as I recharge my cameras batteries. I took some today of him gulping down some mice.

I just keep seeing pictures of one year old tegus that are GIGANTIC and can't imagine mine growing that much in 6 months or less
Unfortunately I know very little about how he was kept before I got him, but I highly doubt he was hibernated. I suspect he wasn't fed as often as he should have been though. I will assume that he is between 6-8 months.
