I'd like to know how fast can a well cared/fed B&W Argentine Tegu grow?
Mine is 4" STV now, and I was just wondering how fast he'll grow. Right now, he is in a 35 Gal. Tank and there is a 75 Gal waiting for him. This will give me the time to built his future home.
Cheers

Without hibernating, they can reach adult size in about 1-1.5 years. Most seem to grow rapidly while young, however some can just be late bloomers.

My 05 hatchling from last July at about 9.5 months old is already 40 inches.

My 04 which I picked up last December was only around 2.5 feet, and has shot up to about 40 inches as well. A late bloomer icon_razz.gif

Did you hibernate yours Teiidae? and also, I'm not sure, and we all knew what you meant, but isn't the term SVL and not STV? icon_wink.gif

I just got him a week ago, I got it from Reptilia in Canada and they told me that he's been hibernating all winter. Now he is eating like a maniac. Do you feed them eat-all-you-can or you got to ration the little one!
He's been sleeping all winter so he's probably hungry. Thanks for the correction SVL- STV, I appreciate.

Mine's been hibernating all winter, I just got him in October, and he's still not out yet. He comes out for about 45 minutes in the morning, but has every day since I've had him. He's still not eating or anything. When should I be worried? I heard they are supposed to come out in March.

This is incredible how fast they grow! In three weeks, he has grown a little over 2". And got some weight. He is such a pig. Good thing I am breeding my own crix, superworms, mealworms and rats. He eats the same size pinky rat as my corn snakes. I surprised my spouse with it, at first she did not like him but know she loves him. She things he is almost full grown now. But this will be another surprise. He'll just keep growing and growing and growing. He's a little over 7" SVL. She like surprise though.

I got my tegu in October '05, and he was around 20", with still some green on his head, so I assumed he was an Augest/September hatchling. He hibernated and is now beginning to come out more, so I havn't had a chance to measure him yet, but I imagine he's around 22", and between 7 or 8 months old.
