ok this probably belongs in another forum, like dogs maybe, lol...but i was wondering if anyone has had this problem...
my dog has convinced himself the thing living in the big blue tank is some sort of horrible monster waiting to eat him. Everytime he hears Grim walking around in there he starts freaking, whining and pacing around. I'm wondering if he had a look in while I wasn't watching and the tegu lunged at him or something...its truely bizarre. Its annoying because the tegu cage is in my room, and thats where the dog sleeps too...so as soon as Grim comes out to bask at around 6am my dog starts whining and goes around waking everyone up like the house is on fire. I need to convince him it is no threat somehow.

Has the dog ever seen the Tegu, or does he just hear the noise in the tank ? - When I got my 1st Colombian, my dog would growl and whine whenever the Tegu was out "In It's cage" but in time mellowed out realizing he was not the only pet anymore. Of course there was that one time when one of my Ameiva's jumped off my shoulder and landed on the dog - That freaked her out a little
My dog doesn't mind the lizards anymore, but is actually a little intimidated when I let the Argentines out - She will leave the room and go find a bed or chair to hang out on - I think your dog is just being protective "Nothing wrong with that" and maybe will get used to the new housemate in time... _________________ 1.0.0 Ball Python "Albino"

he's seen me holding the tegu, and in its old cage. he has a strong prey drive so i don't think its wise to let him get any closer. He didn't seem to mind when the tegu would bang around in its old cage, a glass tank, possibly because he could see it. he won't even go and look in the stock tank cage though. I shouldn't be surprised though, everything worries this dog. hopefully he'll get over it eventually (more likely he'll just have to deal with it until i am living somewhere that will allow me to keep the tegu where he can't see/hear it)
