Hey! I'm new here. I guess I should introduce myself. i live in maine, I'm 16 as of the 27th of April, and i am relatively new to the herp hobby. I'm kind of a loser, I like to use commas, and (parenthese's). My name Dan, I have 2 male cats (Used to have three but the oldest (18 yrs old or so) Is currentley being put down as I write), A female dog, a male african three toed frog, and 1 female cat who is unfixed and has had no shots in her lifetime (because of my retarded aunt (I hate her.....her and her annoying delinquent kids are a parasite on my family) and i'm taking care of it because my aunt is currently hiding from the redneck she married and is now threatening to kill her.It attacks any animal near it so its locked in my room and its attention starved because it spent 2 weeks alone in its house (more of a big trailer). If I take care of it for a while my mom will agree to let me get a tegu which I plan to get after I finish my summer job.
My background with reptiles is kind of short. I have had 1 pet snake (wild caught...forgive me I was young and stupid) which died soonafter. 10 green wild caught anoles from Florida which survived about 6 months (again forgive me I was about 7) and 1 iguana for about a year which we couldnt tame and gave to a guy who lets them free roam most of his house. because of my background I had decided that reptiles were very simple animals who had no emotions and at best would tolerate humans as long as they didn't get in the way of breeding or feeding. I was browsing around around http://centralpets.com as I often do because about 60% of my plans for the future involve buying some good land and breeding exotic pets, and I found something amazing... A good pet? thats a reptile? i googled it right away. I found that this lizard could go as far as crave human attention and was very hardy and large. I was sold after about two days of researching habits, breeding tendencies, brumation etc. I am now taking care of a two year old non-fixed cat that has never had kittens to prove that I am responsible and can take care of a lizard.
I am a logical person and have the belief that there is no supreme being such as god or any god-like figures but I do firmly believe in evolution. If you do not agree with me please do not hate me or start an argument with me or a religious debate. I say my beliefs so you can get a basic understanding of me, not to piss you off.
sorry for making that so long with so many grammatical errors and such but I tend to type big words and type in a long drawn out sort of way (for some reason spell check won't work so please excuse my bad spelling) _________________ Argentine B&W planned for end of summer

well welcome to the tegu! judging by your photo album i would have to say that your family doesn't like reptiles very much?? (hallway that the tegu is not allowed in) Anyways there aren't many people on this site that are kids (i am one of them) so its cool when someone of my age group joins. my photo album is on the next to last page (reptileslovepunk's photo album) check it out if you care to. i have a columbian tegu. they seem to be sort of the outcasts of the tegu world...... anyways i like punk/hardcore music and i like skateboarding reptiles and am trying desperatly to learn to breakdance. oh and btw i am a girl. *everyone gasps and covers their mouths* what? such a strange girl! LOL so now u know a little about me. Pea-Brain..........

Well, welcome, that was long, but that's fine. Feel free to ask as many questions as you need to in various posts. Glad to hear you are going to choose a tegu, they are great in many different ways. _________________ -Art-
I think everyone else commented on the length, but whatever, I do teh same from time to time. Again, I'm also one of the few "kids" on here, but I'll be 20 as of July. Good luck with getting a tegu, they make an awesome pet.
You know it's strange as I never really thought about me being a kid, until I got into my "childish" obsession with reptiles, but after seeing a bunch of old down to earth, "family" known as the Maine Herp Society, I myself feel pretty young (19 I'll be 20 on oct 30th.)
It's also strange as I was reading your post, I had thought that you reminded myself of me... I've made all of the same mistakes that you have, except I am proud to say that I have never had an Iggy (although I do want one, but keeping an Iggy is to reptiles, as keeping a salt water tank is to fish IMO.)
I am also more so on the side of evolution, rather than actual religion although I do belive in the paranormal, and such so you are not alone, but thats not near nor is it there.
Justine... your a girl <333 just kidding but I did always think that Justine was the same as Justin just a diffrent way to spell it...
