Welcome! Um that care sheet Teiidae gave you is a great source of information, I don't know if it says it on there but, make sure if your tegu is in hiding, you do not take him/her out of it. If you do, this will just show your tegu that he/she has no where that they can ever go to get away from everything. good luck, and ask as many questions as you need, just try to be more specific so we can help you better. _________________ -Art-
Welcome. My guess would be a colombian? Compare with the pictures on the care sheet. Do you have any pics? _________________ 1.0 Argentine B/W Tegu (Dante)

it's Tegu (TAY- goo), not tugu or tagu. just an fyi. my columbian hides a lot in his tunnels, etc. he does not use the rock and wood hides i provide. he prefers to tunnel. the way i find him is to gently poke at the substrate until i hear, " hufff - hufff". a lot of columbians will hide until the coast is clear, then come out to bask and eat if you're not around.

Dustan,
With Columbians, you never know . It may not be settled in to its new surroundings yet or use to having you around. If thats the case it's going to hide until it does on the other hand, that may never change maybe thats what it likes. Only time will tell. My columbian Spaz doesn't care, she's all over the place sleeping, basking...what ever. Depends on her mood and what she likes I guess. She's not called Spaz for nothing .
The huff huff sounds like him but he doesn't seem to mind me holding him already. It feel asleep on my hand the other night so it must feel some what comfortable
