Sunsun, If your tegus mated in April, then no, you will not have any clutches this year. The females build a nest within 7-14 days after they mate. You would have had eggs two and a half months ago.
I am sorry, but they lay soon after they mate with the male.

Also the reason the female is refusing food might be because she is ready to start hibernating. Two of my females and one male have already gone into hibernation. _________________ www.tegu.com and www.Varnyard-herps-inc.com
thx VARNYARD~ i have 4 tegus~ 1.1 paraguay red & 1.1 arg b&w~ the reds are 2 years old+ and the red female refuse to eat others are eating normally~ i am in asia~ last year, they hibernated in november~ so, i think refusing food is not related to hibernation~ i will notice her~ THX a lot~
by the way, i also want to know that if my 4 tegus live together, will the 2 male both oestrus? or just the stronger male oestrus? because i just see the 3-year-old b&w male oestrus in april~ i don't know the red male have oestrus or not~
THX a lot again

Argentine tegus will start breeding at three years of age. I have heard of two year old males breeding, but I have not observed this myself. I have never seen or heard of a two year old female producing eggs. However they will mock breed. The males will even mock breed other males. I think it is a display of dominance. All males will breed after they become sexually mature. There might be a dominate male, but all three year old males will breed even if they are kept together. Bert uses seven males to five females in each enclosure (thus increasing the fertility chances in the eggs). I use five males to four females. I have not had any problems keeping males together. I have never seen males fight. My females do get very aggressive after making a nest, they even tend to not tolerate me or other tegus (Guard mode over the nest). I separate my females until they go into hibernation. Bert also said that one in ten females will still show this aggression the fallowing spring.
I hope this helps. _________________ www.tegu.com and www.Varnyard-herps-inc.com
