How To Configure mIRC
First you're going to need the latest version of mIRC, go to www.mirc.com and download it there. Once you have it downloaded, run the program and ignore any pop-ups in the program when you first run it. mIRC is a free program and you can still use it after the 30 days, you will just have to ignore the pop up asking you to buy.
First, go to Tools then Options and you'll see a list of various collapsed selections with a + sign next to them. For those of you who are unfamiliar with this type of window, simply click the + to expand them and you will get a drop down list of more options. There are many servers and channels (chat rooms) but we are going to configure mIRC to access the SorceryNet server and tweak a few handy options but the process is the same for any server.
Now that you have the Options open the first thing you need to do is setup your identity. Simply click the + sign next to Connect, fill out your name, E-Mail address and put in the nickname you want to be known by when chatting (this you can change later while in a channel at any time by typing /nick nickname)
Next click on Servers under Connect and you'll see two drop down menus. For our purposes here we are going to select All for the IRC Network and Sorcerynet: US, CA, Palo Alto for the IRC Server. If for some reason you do not see this one listed click on Add and a small Add Server box will pop up.
In the first box put Sorcerynet: US, CA, Palo Alto
In the second box put kechara.sorcery.net
In the third box put 6667,7000,9000
In the fourth box put Sorcerynet
Then click Ok but do not click Connect To Server just yet as we are going to configure a few more things first. Next click on Options under Servers and put a checkmark in every box except "Pop up connect dialog on startup."
Then click on Perfom to open up another small box with a few more options. Here is where you can set mIRC to automatically join any channel and to automatically log you in if you have registered your nickname on NickServ with a password. Simply put a checkmark in the box "Enable perform on connect" and in the white box type /join #channel replacing channel with the channel name (ie: #thetegu) and hit enter for a new line to add more channels. If you have a registered nickname the first line in this box should be /ns id nickname password (ie: /ns id Bob 1234)
Once you have added any channels you would like to auto-join on startup click Ok. Now click on the + next to IRC and put a checkmark in "Rejoin channel when kicked" and "Rejoin channels on connect" boxes. This will automatically rejoin you to the channel if you are kicked by a channel Operator (fun when you are playing around)
Warning: Some channel Operators do not like the rejoin when kicked option and will ban you for using it if they kick you for idling.
Now you are ready to join SorceryNet and start chatting. Go back up to Servers, verify that the IRC Server drop down menu lists Sorcerynet: US, CA, Palo Alto and the IRC Network says All. Once verified click on Connect To Server (Note: If you are already using mIRC and chat on other servers make sure you select "New sever window" first before clicking connect.
You are now connected to the network and if no channels popped up simply type /join #channel in the SorceryNet server window to join the channel. _________________ Kris, Herps they're not just a hobby, they're a way of life!

We had a scheduled chat on Sept. 8th, 2006.
I made a list of every chatter that appeared within the scheduled time. I assigned each member a number starting with the first member logged during the chat.
Later an unbiased chatter, Octane, who was unaware of my list of chatters, used a random number generator (http://www.random.org/nform.html) to create a number which he posted to the channel (#06) and I gave him the URL to the Chatter List and the winner of a The Tegu Community T-shirt is....
Josh
I will contact Josh to make arrangements to get him his free shirt.
