Can you take the plants out of cage #1 and not put them in cage #2 for a few days? That would be best. Mild dish soap is ok to use on them. I could. i'm sure I can find a jar or something i can stick the roots in. they are semi-aquatic plants. Besides, the tank will be out of commission for a few days anyway, I have to bleach it then reseal it. so I just rinse them in the soapy water, then rinse that off? I know the dish soap method to be safe because it is actually used for killing a certain kind of bug that plants get. Aphids, I think.
