Well, after a three year hiatus from retiles I am back and got my "Carl" yesterday from Bert. When I was in college the first time, (returned/current), I had my python ,Copper, and decided to get a Tegu. I went to a local pet store and thought that "Clyde" was really cool. I took him home and set him up well. He was a Columbian and a little crazy sometimes,(like the time he got a way and I grabbed him and he dropped his tail) I freaked the hell out when that happened b/c the intelligent pet shop attendent said "Oh no they don't drop their tails." Anyway, he was ok after all that. I used to put him in the hood of my sweater and he'd sit there looking and licking. But I came back from class one day and he had gotten stuck between the cage and a driftwood. He was cold. I got pretty upset because even though I loved my snake, he had a lot more character and vitality. Anyway, "Carl" is here and I think he is acclaimating well. He wants to either try and climb out or dig under his pad. I was rubbing him for a while today and he climbed on my head. He wants to hibernate I believe. He has no interest in food and as soon as I showed him the flower pot had a hole in it he crawled in and hasn't bee out since. Well, I really wanted to bond with him, but oh well, that's nature I guess. lol Anyway, I am new to the site and look foreward to chatting and what have you. Take Care!!! Let's GOOO Mountaineers!

Hi and welcome! 'Gratz on your new tegu! I got my tegu on labor day weekend and she too immediately hibernated! She has not eaten or emerged since! Silly tegus!

Glad to have you aboard.
