Hi! We received our first Blk/Wht Argentine Tegu from Agama International last Tuesday. I believe that he is doing good. He's shy, but slowly getting used to the routine of the house. My biggest concern is that he's not getting enough to eat. Offering super mealies, crickets and canned Tegu food, all dusted with a calcium/vitamin D supplement. How much should I give him? Is there any signs to look out for that would indicate he is not receiving enough? We've read, & read, and read, but it seems like the best wy to get accurate answers is from others who have been keeping these beauties for a while. Thank you so much for any info you can provide. We appreciate any/all suggestions.
This is a time a year that many tegus slow down in preparation for hibernation. Offer as much food as you want...the tegu will take what it needs.
Don't be suprised though if he takes very little.
Also, don't worry too much ( I know it's easier said)...Bert's stock is very nice...but they are on biological clocks especially the first year.
I have two strong healthy adult tegus from agama....they are not shy.
If they are hungry they eat...if they aren't they won't _________________ Yours,

Thank you for your quick response. I was hoping that he was preparing to hibernate etc. We'll just keep an eye on him. I appreciate that you took the time to answer so fast.

I LOVE this little guy. Totally agree that they are addictive & we are definitely hooked. We have both talked and decided we will stick with just the one until we are sure that we can give the proper care & have enough room to provide the proper living environment. I can't wait until he is tame enough to come to us on his own. Very excited!
