Last night was the first time that we were home when our new tegu ate. I was mixing up some ground turkey & calcium and decided to put a little in the cage with him since he was out wandering around. He absolutely loved the stuff! When he was finished to his satisfaction, he grabbed a handful, (clawful) of substrate and dropped it over the tiny bit left. After basking for about 15 minutes, he went over and smelled the food & then completely buried it! Is this normal? This is the first time he buried the dish that we fed him with. It sure was cool to watch him eat though.
