Chlorhexidine acetate is the diacetate salt of chlorhexidine and is used mainly as a preservative for eye drops, but not strictly. It is also used in Nolvasan(tm). Chlorhexidine gluconate is the digluconate salt of chlorhexidine. It's used mainly as a topical anti-infective for the skin in products like Hibiclens Antiseptic Skin Cleanser(tm).
