hey watch it. there on many gamers on this site who will take offense (i am not one of them however.) icon_biggrin.gif The main reason my mom hates snakes is because when she was young she encountered a rattlesnake. She was sunbathing on a towel and her brother walked up to it and blew it's head off with a 12 guage.

To everyone else:
Who really wants to spend 250 bucks to neuter a rodent? I have plenty of money and work a part time job at 15 years old. I just spent 250 on the gliders then I was told they were bro and sis and he would have to be neutered immediately. I didn't know this until after I buy them. And no matter what animal it is, my mom will always pay vet bills.

P.s i love lizards

Ok, now I dont recommend going against your parents. But I was always told no animals. Well when all said and done, I have had 2 iguanas, 2 sugar gliders, sulcata tortiose, russian tortiose, ornate wood turtle, leopard gecko, 4 anoles, 3 tree frogs, veiled chameleon, bearded dragon, and a 29 gallon fish tank while living at my parents house. I just learned how to work them over! lol.

But of course I was also working and brought in my own source of income. I had to pay for EVERYTHING! and being a teenager, paying for my car, insurance, gas, cell phone, all the reptile stuff, it was hard at times, but to me well worth it. I had about $250 in the bank at all times as an emergency vet fund. Eventhough, $250 was a good start, now working at a vets office, that would be enough if it was a serious emergency.

I also proved to them that I was responsible enough to be able to take care of everything. One of the main reasons they didnt want me getting animals as they thought they were going to have to take care of them.

As for people being afraid of snakes and not lizards, I was one of them. Until my roommate talked me into getting a baby corn and I am so glad he did! The main reason I got a tarantula was to face my fear of spiders! I am ok to handle it, until it starts to run on me! Then I freak out and scream like a little girl! lol. But that is another story.

Good luck and dont push your parents too far where they make you get rid of everything you already have.

I can understand where you are comming from, however, this is the responsibility of owning animals. Things will come up that needs to be done. And if your mom will pay vet bills, why not see if she will pay for them! Spaying and neutering is part of being a responsible pet owner.

BTW...they arent rodents! They are marsupials.

nifty, and definitely lmao with your screaming like a girl thing... that was just too good reptileking. once upon a time i, too, was unsure about snakes, but i worked with them at a pet shop and now i own 4. I plan on getting a redtail boa sometime soon, but who knows. that's also cool that i'm not the only person who worked my parents over. lol.

haha yes i know they aren't rodents. I was just very angry when I wrote that. personally I love sugar gliders it just isnt the right time in my life to own a pair. I have won my parents over in everything I just can't get a snake. I have 15 pets right now (none of them are reptiles) and my mom said no to all of them in the beginning.
