im thinking of getting a black or a white throated monitor i like both exactly the same the only way i can chose is to see which grows bigger there doesnt seem to be many care sheets for them the ones i have read say they grow between 4-7 feet but then ive seen a pic of a 10 year old black throated male which is 4.5 ft
could someone give me some info on them please and if anyone has one how big are they

Both are great animals if you want a larger lizard.
BT's usually get bigger than WT's. BT's are more available than WT's
and less expensive. Their husbandry is pretty much identical.
There are CB WT's and BT's which are the better choice but these will
be more expensive. Otherwise there are plenty of imported baby BT's
available now ranging in price from $99 to $250. Remeber, you get what you pay for. ProExotics has some available now from $185 to $250.
Their stock is well kept and well started. They also provide email support and and have care sheets and good info on their site.
If you purchase a WC I would strongly suggest you have it checked by a vet and treated with Flagyl & Panacure. The stress of importing knocks
down their immune system and the parasites and protazoans that they
naturally carry can get the better of them which can result in digestive tract infections. I encountered this with my BT.
Good luck!
E

See if you can get in touch with Shawdow, I believe he was trying to sell at least one, if not a couple, i don't remember if they were wt or bt, but it's worth a shot. He also knows a lot about them. Send him a pm, i'm sure he'll be more than happy to help.
