ps: I would also like to know what is the color of the part of his nails that I can clip, because I have to, but I am really afraid of hurting him, could anyone describe to me how to do it, where to cut it? thanks in advance!

Great lookin tegu man. Okay for trimming the nails, there is a lil black line on the nail and from my understanding that is the vein. It probably runs down most of the nail. I guess if you take just the tip of the nail off (right below the vein) after doing this for a while, the vein will recede allowing you to trim more of the nail. Besides, if you do cut the vein, or if you are going slow enough and you are about to cut it, your tegu will let you know by ripping its hand outta yours. if you do clip to far, just put a lil neosporin or triple antibiotic ointment on it or that nail stuff they sell in reptile stores... i forget the name. but that should do it.

My elusive mulch monster woke up this weekend. She was pretty groggy on Saturday but Sunday she was active and exploring everything. She had a big day. She got to explore the living room, even on the floor! She hung out with me on my bed while I watched the Daytona 500. She is a Ryan Newman fan! She tore into a bit of egg, strawberries, and grapes! Today, we try a mouse! (peach fuzzy) Here is my favorite picture from yesterday. To see all of them:
