Very sad news, Arnold passed away last night. I got him from Bert back in Oct 06. He was about 8months old. He was very small for his age only 16inches. He never soaked or ate veggies or fruits. He was never aggressive for food or with me It was only crickets for along time. I went to my exotic vet tons of times. I got meds. Ask alot of questions. I had the right set up. I keep him in a 40 gallan breeder. Heat side was about 90 or alittle more two hides. cypress mulch, dusted his food, had an uvb bulb. I still offered him fruits and crickets ect every day. He started to brumating for a month i still fed him he would only eat rat pups and he would poop. I just always thought he was really picky and kinda slow. I want another one. I know Bert is a great breeder but i'm kinda afriad to get another from him. This little guy broke my heart. Has this happen to anyone else?
Well sorry to hear about your tegu passing.Well i'm not sure i would say i'm afraied of buying another tegu off bert,maybe you should go back and take another look at what might have been the reason why he might of died.As far as your basking temps being 90f instead of 100f to 110 or other things.Or maybe something else i'm not sure but thats what i would do.I bought a tegu off bert in december of 06, a cross and he is as healthy as can be.So who knows but this might be your mistake and not his.
a similiar thing happened to me last year, but as far as I know last year when I posted about it on the forums no one else had a similiar experience. I know what you are going through it sucks, I felt bad about it for a while even though I knew I did all I could, but if you ask Bert I am sure he will send you a new one this summer if you pay shipping. Thats what he did with me. Best of luck!
