how big of a cage can hold 2 female blue tegus? How about a
6 ft longX 3 foot WideX 18" high vision cage? I know the hight is a little iffy but i plan on doing about 6-8" on the 2 feet by the light and 8-12" by the cooler end. Also i plan to let them free roam quite a bit because i have a big house and can isolate my dogs and cats from the tegus. One more thing they are about 17" long i'm told can they go into the 6ft vision now or should i do a 55 gallon till they are a little over 2 ft? thanks for any help

They can go right into the larger enclosure. I think the visions are a bit tight and you may get mulch in your sliding glass track, but John is using them so they do work. I'd give lots of daily free-roam access.
I'd personally build something larger unless you are getting a killer deal on the visions.

That's correct! I'm currently using the 54" visions. The 6fters would be great!! Mine are both in the 2ft + range. I wouldn't really want to house more then 2 per vision (at least for me) 3 is really squashing them in. I also let them free roam a lot and they are just great! Blues are MUCH smaller then the others you'll soon find out! Check out my photo gallery for pics. As long as they can completly bury themselves they should be fine! _________________ John Light

$259 isn't bad, where are you getting them from? I paid $200 each, I got lucky a friend was getting out of the big stuff. I have a pair of albinos in one, and the other 2 adult females are off on breeding loan. I'm waiting to see if the snows prove out before I buy them (I'll skip the hets). I have what I believe is a platinum as well. I'll probably keep back a male from her clutch (if she drops) and breed him back to her. Anyways I plan on having some killer babies available this season!!! _________________ John Light

Sounds VERY steep to me LOL. I got my albinos for a good deal. I've yet to see an albino nicer then my female! ASF wanted another $100 ontop of what I paid but luckly I had already sent paypal!!! Ron would of sold her for a ton! My male was the smallest male (he was picked on...and the female seems to like picking on him as well) although he had a real light coloration (much lighter then the others)! Albinos don't really color up untill they get older (Bill - ASF said the babies are ugly compared to the adults!). All the albinos have all of the colors (usually) but it's easy to tell a real nice one! I'd like to clue you in on this "het for snow" thing. The snows are NOT proven. An albino was bred to a platinum (which is NOT proven). To my knowledge platinums have NOT been bred back to see if they are infact genetic. I have what I believe is a platinum female in which I plan on trying to prove out! Next season if my male is large enough I plan on letting him breed her. I'll then have double het for snow offspring (if the female proves true for platinum). I'll then raise the babies and breed them back. The following year I'll be breeding the platinum back to one of her male offspring to try and produce platinums. Real exciting project! There is a strong possibility they will prove genetic, then again how can you sell the offspring of an unproven morph as "hets"? _________________ John Light

Really depends on what your looking for. It's almost impossible for me to get a decent pic of her as she's completely yellow and 99% of her photos wash out! He looks alot like my male, which I also love dearly! Beautiful animal! _________________ John Light
