Hi!
I bought a tegu some days ago, and someone sold it as rufescence.
In my opinion it is a strange rufescence...he has a merianian head..some red on the head and the nest....but the tail is totally black with a lot of white spots...
someone can help me to detect better the right species of this tegu?
thanks icon_biggrin.gif

You can get reds with a lot of black markings...you can also get black and whites with brown colouration icon_smile.gif Perhaps the colour on the tail is taking longer to come through? Red on the rest of the body would definitely suggest T.rufescens to me. Any pics?

Yup, he looks like a pretty red to me icon_smile.gif Lots of black on him though!

Bert at agamainternational.com has a stack of red tegus, and the colour varies from very strong, almost complete red to very dark with barely any red at all;

Johelian, that's a great pic. icon_smile.gif I know it's not yours, but I just love seeing so many tegus in one place.
