I can't wait to see the pictures. Just go into the Tegu Gallery and make your own album. Directions can be found in the "Helpful Info" section. If you run into problems just let me know and I will help.

Heh, if theres a space (or even if there isnt!) a tegu will find a way icon_wink.gif I let mine roam the corridor which is long and quite bare, and he still manages to get himself wedged under the few items of furniture that are there. We have a wicker stand with drawers in it that he used to be able to crawl under when he was smaller - hes way too big now, but that still wont stop him. icon_lol.gif Ah well. So long as theres nothing that can fall onto him or whatever then its usually ok.

Actually, I remember reading someones account (cant remember who, so if irts one of you guys, sorry!) about their tegu climbing up a bathrobe that had been hung up on a wardrobe or something; the guy was searching everywhere for it, and he finally found it at the very top of the hanging robe trying to figure out where to go next. Wonderful story, and it really teaches you how inquisitive these animals can be icon_smile.gif

Could be. Argentines in captivity seem to lack the black snout although this is not uncommon in the wild. Agama has some Argentines with the black nose. This is just another reason why Myself along with many others believe the blues are just the tropical Argentines.

Generally a blue tegu and argentine black and white tegu look alike. The main difference is in adulthood. The Argentine is generally larger and the blue tegu is smaller. When really young the blue tegu has a lot of brown/tan to it, that turns white and the Argentine black and white has green instead, which turns brown/tan, then white. Adult blues, specifically the males, visibly appear to have a blue tint (hence the name) but the blue tint sometimes never really seems to happen.

If you have an adult tegu that is black and white and has two loreal scales (see Argentine vs Colombian in 'Helpful Info'), its either a blue tegu or an argentine black and white tegu. The only way to tell the difference is in mature adulthood size. The blue will get upto, but not generally over, 3.5 feet. The Argentine black and white can reach upto 4.25 to 4.5 feet.

Now, the 'burnt' looking nose. This is a cause of a lot of confusion, so I will try to clear that up.

Our captive bred stock comes from other captive bred stock, that comes from other captive bred stock that was imported years ago. So, the original Argentine black and white tegu stock probably had very few black and white tegus with the burnt nose feature. Most of the original blue tegu stock probably had the 'burnt' looking nose. Thus most of the 'burnt' looking tegus are blues. This has caused many people to use this as a trait to determine if you have a black and white tegu or a blue tegu. This is not a 100% reliable method. I will admit that if your tegu has the 'burnt' look, it is indeed highly likely to be from blue tegu stock, but this is not a guarenteed way to determine which you have.

Now, to recap, the only 100% ways to tell a blue tegu from an argentine blue tegu is from the color from hatchling to young juvenile. If it is green, it is an Argentine black and white. If it's brown/tan and was never green, then it's a blue tegu. The other way is by the fully mature adults size. Under 3.5 feet in adult maturity is likely a blue tegu (but perhaps a stunted Argentine black and white) but if it's over 3.5 feet, its an Argentine black and white tegu.

Hopefully that clears up some confusion without causing more..

Here is some reading material too... More..
