Hi,I don't actually have a tegu yet. I'm seriously considering getting one as a pet though. Anyways, there's some basic info I'd like:
Adult size
Ideal diet
Temperament
Best substrate
Temp and humidity requirements
any misc info you think is important
Sorry if I sound a bit rude, I just want to find out as much about them as i can and there's not a lot of info available on the web. Or if there is, I haven't been able to find it.
That doesn't seem rude to me, but I can handle a lot
You can start with the "Helpful Info" link in the main menu.
After that, search the "The Forums" for the topics you listed, and you will find a wealth of information, and will likely hone your research skills as there is much to read there.
Most all of what you're interested in can be found in one place or another on thetegu.com, but in all fairness, don't limit yourself to one place.

m432 is right
You will find all those answers and a lot more on the forums.
Plus you will learn there are different kinds of Tegus people have and some do grow bigger than others.
There are breeders on this site where you can get a great quality Tegu.

Here's a few quick answers.
I would still recommend researching and browsing through the forums, but here you go.
Adult size-3.5-4.5 feet, and a lot of tail.
Ideal diet is whole prey items (Entire body of animal so, crix, insects, mice, rats, etc) a lot of fruit, and occasional egg and ground turkey. There are many posts here about diets, it will be easy to find a more in depth discussion.
Temperament-Very docile if raised from a baby, although some will never be tame. The latter is quite rare, but the key word is "individual". For the most part, they are quite tame. You can look at rick's tegu attention vid if you don't believe me.
Cypress mulch and coconut fiber is generally regarded as the best substrate, though I use a mix of leaf litter, coconut fiber, cypress, and plain old dirt.
75-95 ambient temps, plus a 105-130 basking spot. (See what your tegu prefers, if it basks for very long periods of time, raise the temps. If it avoids the basking area, lower the temps.) As long as you have little ventilation and good substrate, humidity shouldn't be a problem.
I'm sure there is more I could add, but I'm too lazy to type it all. Have fun.
Oh, and welcome to the site. _________________ Animals: Too many.
