I have a good sized "full grown" BW that from visuals is female. I just got a mid sized that I bet is male. I plan to probe. I actually think right now they are going into hibernation. But the female is in a 4x4x2tall acrylic tank. there is a cat box for a hide box, a 16x36 water, and bedding tote, for the cage so actuall for free space it's kinda crouded. I wanted both totes for her health. FULL soak and FULL burry. I would like to breed in spring. Can I introduce the male into the cage? I let them walk around in there room together for about 10 minutes a couple days ago to "get to know each other" they didn't fight, but now I amfraid that it may be to late till spring. any ideas?

First off you're gonna need a much bigger cage then that, even for just one adult tegu. For a breeding pair your gonna need a floor plan of 8x4 other wise you're tegus might end up fighting due to the cramped space.

well not just the depth but when you think about it an adult B&W often reaches four feet long, they won't be able to turn around to well, let alone with two in there.

I always try and "spoil" my animals as far as there habitat, but that will be kinda hard to have 8 feet. I'll have to think about it for a while for the room.... should I try and do it while they hibernate?

I' deffintly work on the cage and space issue while they are hibernating. This way when it comes to interduing them to each other there is more room incase aggression occures.

HELLO
MALES HAVE NUBS ON THE BACK OF THEIR BACK LEGS.
MOST OF MY MALES ARE MUCH THICKER THEN MY FEMALES
MALES ALSO HAVE MUCH LARGER JOWLS.
HOPE THIS HELPS WITH SEXING
NO NEED TO PROBE TEGUS
EASY TO SEX
HOPE THIS HELPS

look at all of their behinds and you will know what I am talking about.
not the tail
The back of their thighs
look at your adult male and you will see the nubs.
then look at the others.
If you do not see anything they are girls.
the nubs are easy to spot on males
after 6 months to a year old.
you can do it
happy holidays
Jeff
