My Tegu has been acting weird the past few days and I cant tell if he is sick, or just getting into a bad mood for some reason, he looks as though as he is starting to shed. I think he was starting to get a cold because he was sneezing everfy so often, so I did raise the temp and have been trying to raise the humidity so he can have a better shed. But, when I try to take him out of his cage he is really grumpy and when I tried to put him back into his cage, he ran away from me full speed and hid under the couch. This is not normal for him at all, as he is very social and usuaully never runs away from me. When he pooped this morning it looked normal except there was some weird yellow color mixed in it and it seemed really mucusy. Any ideas on what to do? Thanks.....Jon
sounds as if he might be sick , my theory is based on the fact that you sayd he is sneezing every so often and my tegu ive had for 2 months and only sneezed like twice that ive seen so he might have like a tegu cold?
raise the humidity and the temps and feed outside of his enclosure and it might help with the aggresion.
if none of this works bring it to the vet just to be sure its nothing sirious. _________________ Goals:100 posts DONE!

I wouldnt say he is aggressive in the sense he is biting me, just really upset to be picked up and held. Maybe it is because he has a cold. I put some spagnum moss inside his hide box and raised the humidity more, so I will see in a few days. Thanks for the reply...

Keep humidity fairly even and do not raise it. If he has a respiratory infection or a bacterial infection raising the humidity will cause it to worsen sometimes due to the fact that many bacterial infections are caused by the precipitation of urates and fecal matter with the heat and humidity combination. Clean the tank with no chemicals except for a non-toxic approved reptile enclosure cleaner, replace all substrate, and take him to have a white count analysis. Check for abnormal RB cells and an elevated level of WB cells. Welcome to tegus. 55 bucks for a blood analysis and most likely 12-20 bucks in a round of Frotax.
