long time no talk.

winslow is having some serious problems. He is breathing with his mouth open and he can't open one of his eyes and hes having problems walking. I took him to the vet and they did x-rays and all of that stuff. they said his shoulder is broken and that the breathing is from pain. so they gave me pain meds. but he looks soooo crappy icon_sad.gif! someone help please.

Poor tegu!
Don't know what to say other than avoid picking him up or moving him since any movement or handling must be painful...
Did he fall or did something fall on him?
Maybe someone else here has experience giving their tegu pain meds.?
Good luck to your tegu.

Merm,

reading your post is very sad. I know how attached we can get to our pets, they become like friends or a member of our family, seeing them in pain is so hard. Has the vet. given you hope that he'll heal over time? What 's the prognosis? Anyway, good luck.

You have my deepest sympathy for the loss of your beloved pet. Sounds like you did all you could and then some.

Blessings,
Lin

Give yourself time to grieve this one first. I lost a 16-year-old cat last week who slept curled in my arms every night. He was the 3rd cat to die this year of old-age related issues. Although I still have one cat (and lots of lizards) my grief has been very sad. A new cat will come to me and a new tegu will come to you when the time is right and we can accept the new pet as an individual as opposed to replacements for the ones we lost. When my green tiger Chinese water dragon died suddenly 3 years ago, I thought I would never get over it. It still hurts, but I was never able to find one the same quality and personality so I gave up. I wanted another large lizard so I got my first tegu this year. She is a real joy.

Yeah Linlizard is right...give yourself a chance. My dog died last week...8 years old, female golden retriever, she was the best dog I never had.Tame social and inofensive. I won't buy another dog because I'm too sad for the moment.Everytime I see a dog, it makes me thing about her.

I know that this kind of situation hurt so much...
Sorry for your friend... icon_cry.gif

I just want to check on you all to see how you all are doing.I feel the pain with you.We lost a Weimareiner 2 years a go.He was just 3 years old but he had cancer. He had surgery done and he looked like he recovered pretty good. The day before he suppose to get the stitches out he played with our other dog in the back yard ( BIG MISTAKE ).The wound busted open and he bled to death.I never wanted to get a nother Weimareiner again so I wouldn't be reminded of Skyler. So we got a Vizsla. They look the same but he has a different color.Romeo is a great dog.I gave him the middle name Skyler because if it wouldn't of been for Skyler we wouldn't have this great dog.I still wish we would have Skyler, too.I will keep you all in my prayers.Hang in there.
