icon_biggrin.gif he was the easy to tame even compared to tegus. most ive seen are wary but laid back starting off with babies would like tegus be the best chance for a docile monitor icon_biggrin.gif

Umm... don't get a Varanus melinus if you're after a 'pet'. Most of them are nervous and shy. If you want something that'll be tame like a tegu, get a tegu (Argentinian, not Columbian).

bubbasherps, where is your melinus now?

icon_eek.gif yes, I was a little scared at first
I got my savannah monitor 'Bear' about 2 yrs ago and he was a small thing. he was nervous and shy.
now, 'Bear' is like a huge puppy. he does like to hide but he likes to come out walk around and lay on top of me for a good massage for hours and will even sleep in my bed.
no doubt he does love his critters. I also hand feed him pieces of raw / cooked steak sometimes chicken.
as you know 'angel' my columbian tegu is the same way icon_wink.gif icon_wink.gif icon_wink.gif

Shhhhhh, I am the daughter of Angelrose. icon_cool.gif Angelrose is my mother,we share "Bear" the Savvanah Moniter,"Angelrose" the tegu,"Chubbie" the smart parakeet,Ted and Tina the Red Eared Slider turtles,Molly the Black Molly Fish, and Al the aljay eater.Bear is so sweet,Bear sleeps with me. I can hand feed him, bath him,pet him,and hold him.Sometimes mom and I let Bear out of his house.Bear will stroll around, but today when mom patted her hand twice, Bear came out from his hiding spot, under the sofa icon_surprised.gif pretty icon_cool.gif

Don't get a melinus if you're after something to turn into a 'pet'. They are normally too shy for that sort of thing.

Get an Argentinian tegu.

Crocdoc did you ever had a melinus icon_question.gif

However, I don't think I am going to buy one Melinus because they are too small and hard to find in Canada, I will make some research about the dumeril monitor. icon_rolleyes.gif

About the sav, I heard to many bad comments about their behavior so I won't buy one. icon_sad.gif

Finally, if I heard to many bad comments about the dumeril, I will chose the Argentinian Tegu. icon_wink.gif

thanks all!!! icon_biggrin.gif
