Your welcome.Just keep hanging in there icon_wink.gif .I will keep you all in my prayers .I know things are hard right now but if you look to the future and think about the bad things that could happen to him or think about the things that you did wrong than you can not concentrate on the things you need to do for King right now.Just take it day by day.

2 year Nile in a 30 gallon tank, newspaper, gator aid turkey with gravy. Okay, I think I've heard everything now.

EricIvins gave you good advice. The problems you are having with your Nile are husbandry related. I'd up the basking spot to around 120-130F (surface temperature), but it's going to be tricky doing that in a tank as small as a 30g without overheating the whole thing. It probably has a screen top, which is bad for dehydrating monitors. Deep substrate for added humidity, either dirt or a combination of dirt and leaf litter. Whole food only, no bits of chicken, turkey (with or without gravy).

It probably has the early stages of metabolic bone disease by the sounds of it, from being unable to metabolise calcium. A hot basking spot and whole foods will help.

Oh, and when it is healthy again, prepare for it being a little more 'Nile' like in behaviour.

Crocdoc.I don't want this to get heated but make fun of me all you want about the chicken/ turkey baby food with or with out gravy and the gator aid.I didn't make this up.This is what a vet told me to do before and it worked for me.Some times when animals are to weak to eat they will not it solid food.In order to get some food in them and some nourishment liquid is better for them to swallow at the beginning.I did not say she has to give him baby food all the time. With the tank being to small and about the dirt in the tank and the lighting you are right.Take care.
