only thing i could say would be get him in your bath tub.. moderatly warm water and let him soak. and if needed id say i bet you could massage his lower stomach. its just a suggestion. i have heard that bathing can loosen their stool. keep us posted

Welcome to the Tegu forum ( family ). I have to ask you this.Do you feed your Tegu in his enclosure ? if you do than it might be possible that he swallowed some mulch and got impacted.I fed my baby Tegu in his enclosure ones and he swallowed some mulch and got impacted. He couldn't poop and stoped eating for 5 days. His butt looked very swollen and he wiggled his body side to side trying to poop but he couldn't.I couldn't take him to the vet because it was Thanksgiving Holidays.I did get a appointment soon. The vet stuck something in side of him to see if he was impacted and he sad no he wasn't.He gave him some meds to give to him by mouth and some for his butt.I had to give him a bath 2 to 3 times a day and put the meds on his butt.About 5 or 6 days later he pooped out two big pieces of mulch.I also had to force feed him with a syringe ( with out the needle ).I gave him some chicken and turkey baby food.Try to give your Tegu about two baths ( in warm water ) a day and see if he poops.Good luck and please keep us posted.Take care.Oh,a nother thing I want to ask you how is the humidity in his enclosure and does he drink a lot of water ?

Soaking in warm water may help him out for now but if this is a constant and continuing problem something else must be contributing to the problem. Lack of humidity or dehydration could be part of the problem in addition to low or improper temps. Do you know what the daytime temps are? Also, does he have a good basking spot with temps of 100 to 110 or so? Higher temps are needed to properly metabolize, digest and pass food.

Good luck!

E

Im not sure where to start. I have never soaked him ever so thats a great idea i will start that right away. Also as far as feeding him in the enclosure i do that ive read not too but i still do..... He really is so intelligant and gentle its weird but even when hes excited or hungry i put my hand in there as to be non threatening and tiko breathes real heavy like its hard to trust i feel so honored to have a friend in him so thank you for all your advice. I spray his cage every day and mulch every day like 3 times a day.... I wonder if i can get some medicine or mineral oil or something like that to help him. He use to eat so well and swim and run around and poo like twice a day. Now its still like i said he just sits there looking at me with his head down.. Please keep helping me and tiko my names melissa, i also have been trying to do rehabilitation with reptiles, im willing to do anything i can to make him happy again..
sincerly.........
