I think that would be a little to small for him.Sorry.They grow very fast.I wouldn't want you to spend some money on a tank that doesn't last very long.My Tegu is 20" long now and he has been in a 55 gallon tank for a while now but we are going to built his new enclosure next month. He grew 2 1/2 " and gain 100g in one month. But the twin bed sice enclosure sounds good for now.Good luck with him .

Yes,but please make sure he gets to free roam a lot.It is nice to see that you are being responsible and are doing your research .I wish more kids would be like you.

I'm going to order a b/w tegu this weekend from my local pet shop
Its cost me next to nothing to get his tank setup
£5.00 for a large bag of wood chippings
Free Hay
£1.99 for a plastic plant pot that I cut in half to make two hides
£3.00 for a large pan for drinking
£1.50 for food dish.
4ft tank - approx £50, but for me, free =]
I know the price of food comes into it etc. etc. But I have snakes, so I buy pinkies every other week, I have Beardies, So I buy crickets every three days, and we are large meat eaters, So I have plenty of meat he can have. I have an Iguana, So I've always got a good supply of fruit and veg in the house..
Makes it so much easier when you have more than one reptile to buy for.. you always remember them!! _________________ Davii

Congrats on your new addition.Good luck with him/her.Please make sure that the wood chips are not Cedar chips because they are toxic and with the hay if you get them from a field be careful because it can have parasites in it.Have you ever thought about bulk ordering things ? like your Rodents or Crickets.I was out of crickets and I had to go to the store and buy some.I payed $4 something for 36 crickets .When I bulk order I just pay about $19 for 1000 yes one thousand crickets. Now that is a deal and I don't have to waist gas by going to the store every other day.I keep the crickets in a 10 gallon tank.I get the 3/4 " crickets because they don't chirp .

great job it is so good to hear about you taking care of reptiles and being responsible
you just have to shop around
I breed, grow and freeze all sizes of mice, etc. and grow some of my own veggies
also you can get a big bag of cypress mulch at the home depot now for 1.98 because it is out of season ... _________________ 0.1.0 B/W Colombian tegu
