Hello - My name is Joe and I Live in Alaska - hence my username)

I do not own a tegu - But I have been thinking about getting one for some time.

I raised a really sweet Sav a long time ago - and am debating between getting another or going with a tegu.

Based on the info I have read - I am leaning towards the tegu - mainly because of temperament and diet.

I do have questions though

Where do I go to get one that I can be confident in the supplier? - I do not want columbian or wild caught mistreated animals - I would like a captive born and bred tegu.

We do not have any good breeders up here and most breeders I have found ship only to the lower 48. -

Since I am far away, I will not be able to inspect the lil guy before shipping - so I have to trust the breeder and since I am not in the tegu community - I have no idea who to trust. The internet is full of all sorts of classifieds that just plain seem shady.

Also - I am prepared to house the tegu - I have a really nice room with enclosure (7'W - 4'D - 4.5'H)

anyhow - I look forward to learning alot more about this wonderful creature on this site (really happy to have found it) and thank you for reading this post, any thoughts or suggestions are indeed appreciated.

Joe..... in alaska

I have never shipped to Alaska, but I would be more than happy to check into it this spring when I have more hatchlings available.

I take photos and you can see your tegu before shipping. You can check my references as well. I have the most social, tame & healthy tegus around! icon_smile.gif

Visit my website at www.siscoreptiles.com

You can also see how tame & social my tegus are by watching this video:

wow rick - you do have some amazing tegus!

that video is just fantastic -

How much time a day do you spend in the taming efforts to get such results? Also, how old are the tegus in your video, or rather how long does it take to get them so well conditioned?

I most certainly would be interested in your spring hatchlings -
