My tegu has had a bad shed and his tail isnt coming off and his actual skin is splitting on the tail.
I have bee soaking him and have put moist moss in his hide and raise the humidity.
Also rubbing ointment on the tail but how will i get this stuck shed off because I cant pick it because of the cracks in his skin and dont want to make them worse.

Geez, Tegster's tail has been bad but not that bad. Keep the humidity as high as possible in your tegus enclosure. Soaking is good if it is not over done. It can have the opposite effect of what you want by stripping natural oils out of your tegus skin. What kind of ointment are you using? I heard there is a reptile spray to help with shedding but I don't know if it should be used once there are open wounds. Might be time for a vet check or at least a vets input.
Sorry not more helpful
Oh-what do you use for a substrate? _________________ Renee
if your tegu has only resently shed its body its natural for its tail to take up to a week to shed after the body i had the same concern when charlie had his first shed. _________________ Goals:100 posts DONE!
