Hey all... new to the site... new to the tegu world.
What really drove me to buying a Tegu all started about 2 weeks ago on my vacation in Cancun, Mexico. It was roughly 2pm and me and 3 buddies were going to rent seadoo's. So, we hit the marina and too our amazement there was a 10'foot crocodile swimming in the marina (this didnt discourage us from renting the seadoo's either, plus there was a little liquor in us!). Me and my 1 friend were gazing at this beast on the dock as it started to swim directly at us, neither of us had the mental capacity to think that this thing might jump up and grab our leg, so we watched as it swam directly under our feet, at which point I had a great idea to grab it by the tail and pick it up! Not my smartest of moves but definitely one of my most exhilarating and one I wouldn't do again but do not regret doing! haha... So, having got back home to Canada I was really pumped into getting some kind of reptile. Realizing that a dwarf caiman probably wouldn't be the most practical thing to have laying around the house I stumbled across the great looking lizards which I later found out were Tegu's. I pretty much bought the entire setup and Tegu on spot and about an hour later after getting all the details and info I need to properly take care of him... I was bringing Bob home in the car and I'm already in love with him!
Also, the locals at the seadoo rental called the crocodile Bob as it's apparently always in the marina. So, I couldnt think of a more fitting name for my Tegu then; Bob the land crocodile! haha
Yea, I do alot of things on impulse, it keeps life interesting! I did however do the research on the tegu and after a couple weeks of deliberation, when I went to check them out, I was sold!
