Geeez - I wouldn't have even thought to ask that. It will be interesting to hear if anyone knows the answer.

Hope you feel better soon. Flu season is sweeping it's way around town here too. Been lucky so far icon_eek.gif Hope I didn't just jinx myself icon_evil.gif

No you can't give them the flu. That's the best thing of the reptile, they do not catch our health problem. icon_smile.gif The only thing that can be transmitted to us is the salmonella. icon_confused.gif

I think it's like that, if you think about it...have you ever heard somebody saying... Ouch my poor little lizard is sick, he caught my cold! icon_lol.gif

I never heard that! But maybe I'm wrong! icon_wink.gif

Whereas I would normally agree in that most diseases we carry are not transferable to reptiles and vice versa, there are a number of exceptions. One thing to contemplate is how we get the flu and how health advocates know what and when flu is coming around. It is carried by migrating birds, and when you think about it, birds are more closely related to tegus than they are to humans, so if we can catch a flu disease carried by birds, chances are tegus can as well. I would claim the risk is low, but it is potentially still possible. Take precautions and you'll not wind up regretting anything.

Txrepgirl,

if it makes you feel any better, today is my son's 13th or 14th "snow day"!!!! icon_evil.gif Only it is not snowing. We are having a lovely ice storm.

They are talking about making up school on Saturdays. icon_evil.gif

Flu or no flu - I'd rather be in Texas! icon_eek.gif
