Thank you guys! You're all so kind icon_biggrin.gif And not to forget....my achievements with Juancho is all thanks to all of you icon_biggrin.gif

Well....good news. Since the progress with Juancho have been so good I've decided to start working on Juanchos outside enclosure. Will see if i can find an easy way to modify the dog pen and adapt it according to Juancho's needs.
Really think he would love the choice of being inside or outside.
Maybe i'll start this week if i get the time icon_biggrin.gif

Thank you for the kind words but you are the one that planted the seed so 98% of the credit goes to you, because you had to do all the hard work icon_wink.gif .Good luck with building the out side enclosure. We were wanting to build a out side enclosure before this summer, too,(first we are going to build the inside one as soon as I'm not sick any more and caught up with work ) but I'm worried about one thing.I know Tegus like to dig so how are we going to be able to make the out side play pan save (for the outside enclosure we are tearing down the old shed and use the concrete that is there to put there enclosure on there ) so we can plant some banana trees and other plants and they can free roam with out digging a hole and escape.Do I have to tear the entire part that is for there play pan open and put a chicken wire fence down and than put dirt back on there? I don't want them to get hurt on that.I also don't know if it would be save to have there enclosure to close to some electricity lines (that's where the shed is now ).A nother thing that I was wondering about is that when they are out side the basking spot still needs to be up to 115 but here in Texas it get just up to 85 to 95 so how can they be out side and still get enough heat ? do I still have to have lights ( UVB and a basking light) in the enclosure ?

Hope you're feeling better Sam.

I'll tell you that if you have a big enough concrete foundation, use only that piece and do not include any part of your yard. That way you won't have to worry about them escaping.

I've decided not to go with chicken wire fence, because of safety reasons....Instead i'll use non transparent PVC roof sheets as walls, which comes in sheets of 9x3ft(usually). Cut every sheet in 3 pieces(3x3ft), so that i get the drain grooves vertically instead of horizontal. Then patch all the walls together, attached to the wire fence frame i have now....and done icon_biggrin.gif
Fill up with dirt and tree bark.....and i will also put banana plants like you Sam icon_biggrin.gif I love banana plants, i have like 15 of them in my yard...even a few bananas on them icon_biggrin.gif

About your concern for the electrical wires.....you mean power lines in the sky?? I don't think that's anything to worry about.

About basking.....now i'm no expert on Texas, but i reckon that the sun there is pretty intense during the warm months. Do like this.....buy a temperature pistol and point it at a rock exposed to the sun now when spring comes. I bet it'll be lot warmer than 95. If not, simply use black basking rocks. No UVB/UVA light is necessary if you don't have roof on the enclosure....it's all natural.

Ok....Have i got news for your! Fabi....you will understand when i say that my tegu is now called Juancha. The rest of you will know when reading below icon_biggrin.gif

Was sitting with Juancho today and as always it didn't move much when i first got there. So i sat there talking with it, and then it started to come towards me icon_biggrin.gif I then placed my hands palms up infront of it....and it started to climb right up in my arms icon_biggrin.gif icon_biggrin.gif I then picked her up and she REALLY wasent bothered at all. So then i thought...hmmm....now i'll be able to check the sex...so i lifted it up and watched between it's legs...and voila.....Juancho is Juancha(Female) icon_razz.gif

So i'm now a proud father of a lovely little girl icon_biggrin.gif

icon_lol.gif that is to cute.Yea,Leonidas is starting to look more and more like a Leonida ( Lea and not Leo ) but we are not sure yet.Thank you Chris for all the info.See, now you are teaching me some thing icon_lol.gif .I love banana trees because they give you a lot of privacy and ticks and fleas love them, too,so that helps keeping them of the dogs and they are non toxic icon_wink.gif .Can't ask for more.About the lines it is for cable tv and phone and other stuff so they hang really low.Very close to the shed.I'll try to take some pictures one day and post them.

Yeah we have another girl! Haha! Great she is letting you handle her. I still call mine Juancho since we have been like this for so long but I call her things like "little girl" and such. icon_razz.gif I like the idea of the outside enclosure, I dont need to worry cause she knows well our yard and it doesnt have places where we dont want her. I love bananas too! I have others tho: huge apple tree, a plum tree and a cherry one. It's really funny looking at Juancho while choosing what fruit to eat first! icon_biggrin.gif

icon_sad.gif I want those trees in my yard icon_lol.gif .I have to put a fence around there enclosure because I don't want them to be around the big dogs or stepping in some poop.I clean the yard ( scoop up the poop ) twice a week but I don't want to take the risc them stepping in it and leaving brown foot (paw) prints in the house when I let them in icon_lol.gif .

Ok....so i now got a puppy icon_biggrin.gif She's called Juancho.
Been working with her a lot the past week, and my god am i happy with the progress. I won't say nothing....since a picture is supposed to say more than 1000 words i'll let you draw your own conclusions icon_biggrin.gif

I reckon she's about 60% tame by now. Been more than a month since she last hissed or showed any sign of aggression. I still use gloves just in case...and will keep doing that for some time. But apart from that she seems to like when i pet her and take her out for a walk.
What she didn't get used to yet though is me lifting her up. It REALLY doesn't bother her at all....but she doesn't keep still when i lift her up. She keeps walking in my hands. Any way of teaching her to be still when i lift her up??

First of all, I can't believe how far you have come in such a short period of time. Your little girl is proof, yet again, that an animal that has been traumatized, knows when it has been rescued and comes to trust/appreciate its rescuer.

I am so happy for you. And is that a leash you are walking her on?!!!!!

Incredible. Just incredible.

I've said it before - Congratulations! icon_biggrin.gif

That's great mate, and about her walking on your hands I've just realized that I pick her up in the last video I made, check that when I'm gonna put her in the water, I dont hold her arms so she start trying to walk and then I put my hands there again and she stays, the same happens when I hold her, she will be ok if she can stay with both arms in one hand and both legs in the other. Note I dont take her by her belly or tail. Hope this helps! icon_biggrin.gif

Thanks you so much for those sweet words Renee. Though it's been many hours just sitting in her enclosure rolling thumbs it's finally paying off, and it looks like she's willing to be a good friend of mine.
Starting to work on her outside enclosure tomorrow, that way she can move a bit more and feel the natural sun once again. I think that will make her even more soft and open to socialize with me icon_biggrin.gif

You know what Fabi....in the short time she's been letting me lift her up i've tried it all....any possible way(no man handling though), and she just wanna keep on walking. I think that within a while she'll get more used to it and actually realize that she doesnt need to walk whilst in my arms....so it's all about practise i think. Appreciate the tip though icon_razz.gif

You are right it is very important to see new updated pics from Juancho but it is also nice to see how we are talking to also.I think that maybe we all should put a picture of our self in our photo gallery.I have to bring Leonidas to the vet because it looks like that he has a cut in his ear drum and his poop has been very soft, too icon_cry.gif .
