Please be careful with feeding her to many super worms because they are high in fat. With the salad make sure that there is no spinach in it.Did you try to give her some crickets with calcium and vitamine powder ? how is she doing now ? hope all is well.Take care and good luck.Oh,you also can order some baby chicks or quail on line at Rodentpro.com.

Dip a fresh killed mouse in chicken broth......ancient chinese secret. When I have a snake that absolutely refuses food, this trick works everytime. just make sure it is no/low sodium. Normal sodium content would not be good for your guy. Hope this works, never tried it on a tegu.................. _________________ 1.0 African Rock Python

She has not ate at all yet.
I put a heating blanket in there and she seems to like that now but she wont eat anything I tried another fuzzy but no interest and I tried superworms no interest i will try some eggs tonite and see what happens.
Would it be possible shes not eating due to lack of humidity?
She walks around and drinks no problem.

This is concerning....been like a month since he last ate? Maybe you should call a vet and have him checked for parasites.
Another thing. Are you always present when offering him food? My little devil won't eat if i'm around. So what i do is leave the food bowl with him for a few hours, then go check if he ate or not.
Also try variety. Different things every day. Diff kinds of meat and fruits. When my Juancho started to eat what i prepared for him he only ate the fruits. More specifically grapes and plums. Have you tried that??

give tegu some Activia yogurt strawberry its the only thing that saved my tegu. Use plastic syringe through mouth.once every other day till he poops then try fuzzy.

gebris353 gave me great advice that helped me. for ground turkey I mix it with an egg and heat it slightly and sprinkle some calcium/D3.
because I know my tegus love raw egg I mix everything with it. I make 'slurpees" for them
whatever is your tegus favorite try mixing a little of something else in it each day. try the sweet fruits cantelope, sweet grapes, banannas, mangos. maybe a little yogurt I use the plain and mix it in things sometimes. little bits at a time let us know _________________ 0.1.0 B/W Colombian tegu

I could be wrong but I think that maybe she was suppose to hibernate.Do you have a lot of mulch in her enclosure so she can burrow down in to it ? the reason why I'm thinking this is because when we got out second Tegu ( Zeus ) he ate maybe 3 times. He came out every so often and basked but he stoped eating. It worried me a lot, too. Now he has been sleeping since January 29th ( we got him in December 07).Look at the base of her tail.If it looks fat than she is ok because they store all there fat there but I still would get her checked out from a vet.Does she poop normal ? does her vent look normal or is it swollen. She could be impacted. When my Leonidas was impacted he stoped eating, too.Good luck and please keep us posted.Thanks.
Her tail is still chubby but i noticed she is smaller then when i got her.
I tried hard boiled eggs ,different fruits and bananna.
She goes and sniffs it with her tounge then scratches her noise agaist the subsitrate then hides.
She is in a flexarium 260 gallon with a 250.00 watt heat lamp and a people heating pad she lays on.
I jungle bark as her subsitrate/
Should I put her in my beardies tank for awhile its alot smaller but that way she feel more comfortable temps will me more correct and i could keep the subsitrate humid.
hello hello im back please tell me you tried the yogurt i mentioned let me know because its the best thing. unless hes got parasites then your gonna need to get flagyl from your vet...

Since she is a adult Tegu I wouldn't recommend putting her in a smaller tank.I would recommend building her a big enclosure I thing the normal measurements are 8x4x4 or 3.She can't grow if she doesn't have the room to grow in to.Have you tried to give her some fish ? a different diet. The fish that my Leonidas loves a lot is salmon and tuna.It is worth a try and also the yoghurt thing I heard before, too, that it works. If you would have a small Tegu I would say give it some chicken and gravy baby food. When my Leonidas was impacted and wouldn't eat at all for 5 day the vet told me to force feed him with that and it worked.Maybe you can try some lean ground turkey and mix in some baby food. When you feed your Tegu please make sure the food is at room temperature. If those things don't work I would take the Tegu to the vet before it gets worse.I wish I could help you more.Good luck and thank you for keeping us posted.
Your tegu could be eating sparadically due to the seasons, if f they arent truly hibernating they can and will slow down during colder months of the year.
Also, your set up doesnt sound very good.
A flexarium is not a suitable cage for any tegu of any size, these cages do not allow temperatures and humidity to be held stable at all. a 250 bulb on top does not help and a tight beam bulb is no good either. (tight beams are only good for small lizards, you'll need flood bulbs to heat the entire body of the animal) as for substrate, if you're using the pet store jungle bark that stuff is horrible and does not hold moisture at all.
if you're to use a pet store product for substrate (which I wouldnt advise)
go with something like eco earth that would actually hold some moisture (you can even mix it with the jungle stuff) but really it's a down hill battle in a flexarium.
your tegu will not thrive under such conditions and they should be fixed accordingly
I would really look into buying (or building) a solid topped wood cage
Another thing to feed is raw cow heart and liver. I dont even bother with crickets. I just feed that calcium dusted, along with occasionally a pinkie and mealworms (dusted)
Hes growing really fast.
But thats my WT monitor.. but Im sure its about the same for a tegu _________________ Davii

If you want to you can go to Home Depot or Lowes or a Feed Store ( where Ranchers go to get supplies for the Ranch,I go there because they are cheaper) and get a big bag of cypress mulch ( not even $6 a big bag ).It holds a lot of moister.I forgot to mention that I also recommend to get a Thermo-Hygrometer that measures temperature and humidity.I'm so glad that you are trying to get some infos to help your Tegu.Good job .
