hello , I found this site while looking for info on the red tegu, I lived in chile for 11 years and went to argentina every summer i also visited peru, bolivia, ecuador, brazil, colombia and a few other countries . I have to say that i never knew about these lizards until i moved back to california and saw one at an expo. I did some research and began talking to Bert alot and i purchased a red from him, he is a great man . The funny thing is he would reply to my emails in spanish . This site is amazing and the info here is so helpfull. I hope your site continues to grow.

Welcome jose2187 to the Tegu forum family. How long have you had your Tegu and how big is he/she and whats his/her name ? I hope you are going to enjoy this site as much as we have.If you don't mind me asking ( since you traveled around so much ) are you in the military ? take care. Please try to post some pics for us .Thank you.
well I purchased my tegu from Bert, but the tegu didnt make it he died during shpping. we had to wait till it warmed up a bit. Its from berts tegus from august. He has come out a few times recentley to drink water and th back to sleep. we named him "nando" short for fernando after one of the guys that survived the plane crash in chile and walked in the cold through the andes mountains to safety , since our tegu too survived the cold. I am not in the military my mother married a Chileno that had a buisness in Chile we went to live with him. It a a great experience every summer we would visit a different country.
