Hello first, I need some help about UVB lamp.

What kind of bulb I have to use? 5.0 or 10.0 or other?
Do I have to use a bulb? or the kind of neon form light?
Do I have to buy the biggest UVB light? or I have to buy a small one?

Second, humidity.

I saw a fogging machine in one of my petshop for high humidity. Is it a good things? or it's totally unnecessary?

Thank you so much! icon_biggrin.gif

hello Ben
how big is your enclosure icon_question.gif
you can use a UVA and a UVB, the UVB read the distance between the bulb and your reptile. UVB does not penetrate glass.
or I now use just the one big Solar Glo sun simulating lamp which provides both UVA & UVB. (less wires all over too).

for night, I have and do use both. the red heat lamp and or the ceramic heat bulb.
I have the red heat bulb on my args and snakes. I use the ceramic heat bulb on Angel and my savvy Bear.
(I have tried both on each one, Angel won't sleep with any lights on and Bear seems cranky with the light on so I use the ceramic. my snakes and the args respond better with the red heat).

recently I was wondering about the fog machine also icon_question.gif I would imagine it's ideal if your not around to mist yourself.

its such a good thing to have a mister i have a habba mister the electric one its great i set it to mist every 3 hours for 45 seconds .I work at geico and leave at 745 in the morning and don't get home until 6 p.m. If i didn't have the habba mister i would be in trouble. i try to keep humidity at 60 percent. i come from chile and spent summers in argentina and they have some pretty humid zones. bottom line best 50 bucks i ever spent.

Hey Ben,

I have been wondering the same thing. I am in the process of building a tegu enclosure and trying to find a arg tegu but did not know which UVB light would be best. I have a bearded dragon that I have a reptisun 10.0 bulb on, but did not know if that light would be good for a tegu as well. I hope it will be good because I ordered another one this morning.

If anyone knows if that bulb is ok for a tegu it would be nice to have a peace of mind about it. icon_cool.gif

Thanks!

It seems that this kind of Solar Lamp is very used by experienced keeper, I will buy one for my bearded dragon as soon as possible.

Ben, fait plaisir,

ya know I remember reading somewhere when the first batch of those UVB swirly 10.0 bulbs were made they could make your tegu blind. I don't remember the numbers of the bad ones on the boxes but knowing that I would think that by now they took them off the shelves.
