If you are having humidity trouble....make him a humid hide. Get a small plastic container (they roll up so it can be pretty small) and cut a hole about half to 3/4 of the way up. You will have to stack rock or ? to make steps so he can get in. Fill the container with damp substrate and that should do the trick. I had a top opening tank and could not keep the humidity above 30% but the plastic container was 70+%
