Last night my b/w arg tegu (Tango) experimented with mango that I had to mix in with his favorite food, peaches. And it was a huge hit! But when i put the plate in his enclosure apparently some juice got on the bark because when i took the plate out he started eating the BARK. I know that it wasnt good for him but everytime i tried to stopped him he did it again. I know there is stuff you can spray on dogs food so that they dont eat their own poop. so is there stuff i can spray on his bark so he doesnt eat his bark? Or am I just freaking out about something crazy? It scares me because i dont know if he does it well in his cage.....
another one falls victim to the bark, I would be woried too. tegu's should be feed in another place were they cannot ingest bark, bark can impact the insides of them and they can die. This is one of the few things that scares me. Maybe nothing will happen but you might want to see a vet just to be safe, was it alot of bark? How big is your tegu and how much, and what size piece did it eat?
it wasnt much but it still worries me he is still pooping regularly and he is a sub adult( look in my gallery). And he doesnt like to eat outside of his enclosure.

I don't want to scare you but my Tegu got impacted ones. What you can do is try to watch him poop.If he looks relaxed and his butt goes up in the air like they do when they poop than he should be fine. What mine did when he was impacted and had a hard time pooping was he moved his butt side to side and I could tell that he tried very hard to push out the poop but nothing would come out.As long as your Tegu poops and eats good he will be fine.Oh and also keep a eye on his vent.My Tegus vent was very swollen and bruised. After like 5 or 6 days he pooped out two big pieces of mulch. That was a long time ago.He is doing great now.Hope that helps. Please keep us posted. Thanks and good luck.

same thing here my colombian got impacted cause she would do the same. so i changed to coconut fiber. and a small amount of cypress mulch and she hasnt done it since. she was eating pieces of repti bark. i was afraid for her as well but i just put her in the tub with warm water and let her soak for a while and all came out. _________________ 0.1.0 Colombian Tegu
