Great vid, and what I like best, besides the very good looking tegu, is that it's not a typical youtube tegu rips rodent apart video. Thanks for sharing.

That is a nice looking Tegu you got there.Does it have some black and while in him ? are there different kinds of red Tegus ? the reason I ask is because when some one says that it is a red Tegu I always thought they look like red/brown.But than I see some reds they look ( like yours ) like that they have some b/w in them icon_rolleyes.gif .Just wondering. Thanks for any info.

I can't really answer that. When Al was a baby, he was SCREAMING red, I mean just on fire red. Then he got to look almost exactly like a B/W, with very little red at all. Now he has some red returning....it's strange. I bought him as a red, and when he was a baby he was as red as red can be. I think he'll turn more red as he grows.

Very nice looking Red, can't wait for my baby to grow that big!

How often do you give him 2 rats? Once a week or less often?

Hi Sam.I don't know if I gave you that care sheet when I first welcommed you. It's from Rich ( the breeder of some very tame Tegus ).It also tells you when you should give your Tegu the calcium and vitamine powder.Hope that helps.

He would eat 2 rats like that EVERY DAY if I let him! I would say it's probably every other day for that. He didn't get anything yesterday. Today I'll give him some fruit - usually grapes and strawberries. I've found that they like fruit that's well past ripe....beyond what we would eat. Makes sense as in the wild they would get the fruit that had fallen off of the trees which would mean it's well past ripe in the human sense. It won't take long, believe me! Here's how big (and RED!) he was back in May of last year:

I swear he goes back and forth. He's fairly red right now. The video on youtube...well, they cut the quality WAY down to make it viewable over an internet connection. In the 220 meg movie that was the source for the youtube video, you can really see how nice his markings are, and can see more of the red coloration esp on his head...

Warner

PS - He ate smelt and kiwi today.
