i don't have a red, but from what i've heard they eat primarily fruit.

i'm not sure if you mean adding rats to his diet as a suppliment, but also, i feed my growing baby 27" arg. b&w twice a day, i believe even as an adult a red eats every day.

red tegus dont eat mainly fruit, they require fruit in a balanced diet. I feed mine i rat a week but i feed him other things every other day, ground turkey with fruit and veggies ground up into it. Beef hearts, kidneys and other meets, try not to give them foods high in fats . the fruit helps them shed but they are still mainly meat eaters in captivity
