Hello
I have had my Red tegu for a few monthes now.
The first 2 weeks I had her she ate very good loved super worms and mice fruits.
I moved and bought her a new enclosure because some people that I talked to said a flexarium would be best inexpensive and large.
Well I hate the flexariums for a Tegu they dont hold humidity at all! icon_sad.gif

Pheonix is around 2 years old is what I have been told a female
She does not mind to be handled or put into the bath and she is by far my favorite reptile species I have kept..
Its breaking my heart for her not to eat ,
I have called several vets none with reptile experince and they wont do fecals and such .
I just moved to a new city and I thought it would not be as hard as it is to find one.
I found a vet who will look at her and do a fecal exam but he does not have much experince with tegus but he does with bearded dragons so at least that will help.

I have tried feeding every type of fruit ,yogurt, boiled egg, boiled turkey, raw turkey, boiled chicken, apple sauce, mice, pinkies, super worms, meal worms, lots of things and she shows no interest in it at all.
I have now been feeding her with a syringe with raw turkey, fruits, yogurt blended up she will eat that.

I would like some more information about how her enclosure should be set up.
I am getting rid of the flexarium as soon as I can I found a 6 foot by 3 feet enclosure that will work untill I can make a larger one.

Flexarium has repti bark mulch in it
250 watt red bulb.
hide
heat pad with rug so she can go under
Large water dish that she can emerge in.
I try to mist every day but my mister sucks so I am going to home depot tommorow to get a good on.
The UBV bulb I have just kicked today so I will pick up another tommorow.
Suggestions apprecated.

Don't worry she will be fine.It is normal for them not wanting to eat when they go through some changes ( like you two having to move ).Look at the base of her tail ( where the hips are ),if the tail looks nice and fat than she is ok ( that's where they store there fat ).You are doing a good job with feeding her with the syringe.I'm happy to hear that she at least eats that.I don't recommend putting a heat mat in the enclosures. She can get burned on that.I have seen some ugly pictures of some burns.See if you have a nursery where you live because you can get a big bag of CYPRESS mulch NOT CEDAR ( cedar is toxic ) for like not even $6 ( 3qf,8L ).It holds the moister a lot longer. Also see if you have like a Big Lots ( Store name ).They have a 2 gallon pump spray bottle for $5.Hope that helps.I don't have my big enclosure built yet ( but soon ) so I'm sorry that I can't give you any tips on that one.Good luck and please keep us posted.

She is really cute.I don't recommend having her in that kind of enclosure because it doesn't hold any humidity.I got some really good deals on some enclosures on craigslist.org .Good luck with her and thanks for the pictures.

she is a really pretty red.

take away the heat pad. tegus like to burrow and will get burnt which can lead to infection. looks kind of dry in there. bring up the humidity. what are the temps ?

get the cypress mulch and make it deep enough for her to borrow and dig in. do you have a hide for her ? it could be stress.

Yes.
Like I said thats my main concern is to get a new enclosure.
Yes I will take out the heat mat its on low and its for humans adjustable settings you likes to go underneath it.

As soon as I get some poop Im off to the vet.

So Does she look healthy ? Other than she could use alittle weight ?

imo, she looks great and a beautiful red !

does she like baths ? perhaps you can place her in some lukewarm water and make some humidity in the bathroom (for now).

she so darn pretty it breaks my heart to see her like this.

here is a list of a large variety of foods, fruits and veggies for tegus.
