Erin, cypress mulch is far better as an aid in holding the humidity. I mix it all up with about a 1/3 top soil.
when coconut fiber dries up it gets dusty. you have to really soak it and you don't want puddles.
I make it thick enough for them to borrow under and be able to hide. mine are at least two feet deep. _________________ 0.1.0 B/W Colombian tegu

i use both. i currently have 8 bricks of coconut fiber in there and 4 bags of cypress they have mixed it all up and love it.. _________________ 0.1.0 Colombian Tegu

I love cypress mulch, holds moisture really well. My tegu just buries right down in it inside her hide and other random spots. With a lid on my tank now, I have been able to keep the humidity pretty constant.
