I readed that the powerful Komodo Dragon have a intelligence as smart as a 6 years old child.icon_eek.gif

I don't think that monitor or Tegus are smarter than the other, it's hard to say whos the most intelligent. How do we calculate the intelligence of a reptile? Are they doing an I.Q test lol icon_lol.gif icon_question.gif

bubbasherps icon_smile.gif you've got to icon_smile.gif lay off icon_smile.gif on the icon_smile.gif smiley faces icon_smile.gif a bit icon_smile.gif it makes your icon_smile.gif posts really icon_smile.gif hard to icon_smile.gif read icon_smile.gificon_smile.gificon_smile.gif

I think 'tameness' is a very poor way to quantify intelligence. If that were the case, then hamsters would be smarter than adult chimpanzees, for there are a lot more tame hamsters in the world than adult chimpanzees. As for begging for food off people, that's not something exclusive to tegus. Monitors do that all around Australia. Lace monitors here in the eastern states, heath monitors in the south, yellow-spotted monitors up north and perenties in the centre. I've got videos on my youtube site of lace monitors descending on a picnic area in search of food.

Ben, anyone that compares the intelligence of a monitor to a six year old child probably hasn't spent much time around five year old children lately.

Aha, now we're getting somewhere. Better experience with doesn't necessarily equate to intelligence, though.

I agree with you Crocdoc, I do not think that a Komodo Dragon have an Intelligence of a 6years old child. icon_wink.gif

About the taming intelligence, I totally agree with your argument Angelrose! icon_biggrin.gif

Ah, and also jeff, I do not understand the point of the tegu begging. How does it look a Tegu that begs for food? icon_question.gif

Its a very interesting question, I am still thinking about it, how does researcher calculate the intelligence of every specimen on earth? icon_idea.gif

The way they communicated?
The way they found food or how they eat?
How they survived?
The relation between each other?
The relation between them and human?
If they dream?
If they thinking about their rationality (reason to live)?
If they make love instead of reproduction?
If they take care of their babies?

If we actually watch at discovery channel or other reports on animals, monkeys, dolphins and whales seems to be the most intelligent animals. But on another way, if we look at species who can survive throught many cataclysm or wars, rats and cockroaches would be in the top two. icon_eek.gif

However I guess I'll do a post discussing about finding the most intelligent animal on earth. Are you interested guys? icon_question.gif icon_biggrin.gif
