Hey! I have a tegu that is exactly a foot long. I feed her once a day, everyday. I give her as much as she wants, she will stop when shes full. Somedays she eats like crazy, other days it is in moderation. For instance, the other day she picked at her turkey here and there, but today she ate two pinkies! Congrats on getting a tegu!!

Hi Asim ( kilo ) to the tegu forum family and congrats on your new Tegu.I feed both of my baby Tegus early in the morning after they bask for at least one hour.I also feed them until they are full.I do recommend feeding him in a separate clean bin. That will help with him not getting aggressive toward you when you put your hand in the enclosure. Here are some infos for you that you might want to check out.Hope that helps. Please keep up posted on how he is doing and if you can please post some pictures for us,too.Thanks.

You just let them eat all they want when they are young because they grow sooooo fast that they need all the food they can get.Trust me there will be days that your Tegu doesn't want to eat because it a lot the day before. Now when you have a full grown one than you have to watch more with what they eat.Just make sure please that you give your Tegu the calcium and vitamine powder.Like on Monday and Tuesday give your Tegu the calcium powder than on Wednesday the vitamin,Thursday and Friday the calcium and so on.I got that from Rick's ( the breeder ) care sheet. If you need it let me know and I send it to you if I haven't already.I usually try to post it every time some one is new.Hope that helps.I wouldn't believe some one that works at a Pet store.
