if someone said / typed they were selling 1.1 sexed b/w args and then you bought them for your daughter (teaching her about reptiles) thinking later down the line you would like to breed them. shortly there after receiving them, you had your doubts about one. a month goes by and you can clearly see that one is actually a cross.

what would you do ? think ? feel ?

Depends on the cross I guess. If it was like a red/blue, red/b+w, or b+w/blue then I personally would think it was a bonus. But I like the crosses. Has anyone ever crossed an arg/columbian?

What kind of proof do you have? Many animals that are labled "Hybrids" actually aren't, unless you have documentation/reasearch to back that up ( not just opinions or hearsay ).

I'm with Dave.I think it would be a great bonus. But like EricIvins sad do you have proof that it is a cross. Some times I think my Leonidas has some thing else in him besides him being a b/w arg.Tegu.He has some baby yellow, orange, brown, black and lavender in his skin ( the top part not the stomach ).I never seen colors like that before. With b/w I always saw them either b/w or with some brown in it.I would say as long as they are two different sexes I would be happy with them icon_wink.gif .Do you have a close up picture ?

I can understand what you guys are saying about some crosses being a bonus. the dollar value does not concern me. I like pure bloods.
I don't have a close up pic at this time.

some time after the transaction, a phone call was made and this person said the female "had some red in her".

"red" does not necessarily mean T.rufescens. It could just be colour. Now I think people are begining to see what I mean when I say uncontrolled hybridization is an abomination. When people don't know enough about the species in the first place, they start jumping to conclusions that could be very erroneous. If this person who said it has "some red in her" is meaning T.rufescens, you would need to know that indeed there was a T.rufescens in your tegu's ancestry and not just someone's assumption that there was, or that a friend of a friend of a friend told them so. Hybridization is a slippery slope, and if it isn't documented, then you just don't really know.

txrepgirl, I am both relieved and happy they showed up healthy that is why I relinquished the money.

as long as there is doubt, I do not want to breed them (my choice).at least not without seeking confirmation.

that was one of the purposes of buying 1.1 sexed b/w args.

angelrose I understand that you don't want to breed your two Tegus if one of them is a hybrid ( because it is your choice). But I don't understand that when you sad it would be amazing to breed a columbian and a argentine icon_confused.gif icon_rolleyes.gif .I think that would be worse than breeding your two args.
