I have a 100 W basking light for a 55 gallon enclosure and I have to get a higher one because my temps just go up to 100.I don't think it would get hot enough.I found this info on the net and I probably will get me one of those. If you have one you can go with the 100W and measure the temps and if it doesn't go high enough bring it back to the store and exchange it to a higher wattage.Hope that helps.

I have a 50 gallon tank (2 feet high) A 100 watt heating light will not be enough. I bought one for my blue tongue skink, and the temperature was not higher than 90 degree

Buy a 125-150 watt. icon_biggrin.gif

Wow...those open top aquariums must leak a LOT of heat. My 8x3x3 enclosure is heated solely with a 90 watt halogen bulb and a 60 watt heat emitter. It also has the 60 watt megaray UV bulb there too. So total when all is on is just over 200 watts, but the enclosure is almost TEN times the volume of a 55 gallon tank. The basking side of the enclosure is about 115 and the other side is in the high 70's/low 80's. I guess this proves what we already know....heat rises! Hehe. Can you block off part of the top of the enclosure to keep some of the heat (and humidity) in?
