Ok, so Juancha is starting to hibernate now. The last week she's been sleeping most of the days. How ever she comes out once a day for 30 - 60 min and basks.

Thing is that the other day i offered her some fruit and she didnt eat anything. Then yesterday i offered her fruit again and once again she refused to eat it. Today i offered her same fruit as yesterday and she ate almost everything....??....., i don't know if it's good or bad. But i've heard that they in fact shouldnt eat before hibernating. But at what stage??

Since i saw her up every day i couldnt let her starve...so i offered her to eat if she wanted to. But if she decides to eat on her own i reckon it's all good......or??

Hi i0r, how's my other favorite girl ?
I am not experienced enough to say about hibernation ...yet. however, I know with mature adults they don't need to eat everyday, maybe like four times a week.

is the weather changing or the sun going down earlier now in Argentina to bring hibernation on now ?

Thanks for replying......my two other favourite girls icon_wink.gif

I read that post and came to the conclusion that she probably knows whats wrong and right. So if she ate she probably needed to do so.
She's still out every day basking for a bit....so i hope she'll be able to digest the food before the deep sleep icon_biggrin.gif

It's so boring now when she's sleeping all day....luckily i've been swamped with work, but i still miss her.

And yes, winter is starting here now(temps still high though....70 during the day and 50 at night) so i reckon it's time for her to go under. Got her house heated though and i've set the temp at 70 for now, but will gradually drop it down to 55 - 60. I think that's a good hibernation temp.

Hope you girls are doing alright and are enjoying your babies....please put up some vids on youtube....that way i'll get my dosis of tegu icon_biggrin.gif

I will miss her icon_cry.gif .I'll try to put some videos up as soon as my boyfriend will help me with it.Leonidas has grown so fast.He grew 200g in 2 weeks.I don't wont my baby to grow up that fast.He is still being very picky on what he eats.I can't get him to eat any fruit or veggies.Zeus eats every thing.I can't believe how good of a eater he is.Take care and don't work to hard.Say hi to your family from us.

Ok so i think she's a bit confused. She ate again. Should i stop to offer her food even though she's still out every day?? Been more than a week since she pooped!!! And today for xmpl she fell asleep outside her hide on her basking rock...she never done that before. I've set her cage temp to 60. Should i lower it a bit more??
Her first hibernation in captivity so probably it's much different for her as well.
Should i give her a lukewarm bath and maybe that help her to poop?? can i do that now when she's starting to hibernate??
Please help me out here! Don't know what to do.

Hey Chris. You sound just like I did when Zeus was going in to hibernation icon_lol.gif .I know it is very frustrating not knowing what to do.I'm still very confused about that stuff, too. But I think it would be a good Idea since she is still awake to give her a warm bath so she can poop. With the feeding part I don't know what you should do.What are the temps out side ? I'm not sure if I'm right about that one or not but I would keep the same temps inside her enclosure as it is out side.I would ask Rick about that stuff.Sorry that I can't help you much on that one icon_cry.gif .Please let me know how things go.Thanks.Take care and good luck.Oh,please give Juancha a last hug for me ( until she comes back out from hibernation than you can give her a nother one for me to welcome her back icon_wink.gif ).
